One American recognizes that we operate in an authoritative environment that is increasingly hostile to the alternative media. It is the traditional media diverting from the principles of journalism which has necessitated this “alternative” path, still guided by integrity and independence. We are the true media. 90% of American media is now controlled by six corporations: General Electric, News Corp., Disney, Viacom, Time Warner and CBS*. This is dangerous. The role of the press in a free society is to act as a check against propaganda and bias. Having a multitude of independent voices in news and entertainment prevents a singular view, dictated by the political and social elite, from developing.
We live in the Information Age. In today’s world, it is with increasing ease that ordinary people can access and share real-time information from millions of sources. This frustrates the elites and is the basis for calls to monitor and censor the internet and label any dissent from the approved, politically correct message as “hate-speech.”
Following the pattern seen in Europe, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch recently stated that the Department of Justice intends to prosecute speech that “edges toward violence,” referencing anti-Muslim sentiment following the recent mass shooting in San Bernadino, California. Later she reworded her message, saying, “of course, we prosecute deeds and not words.” This is because the First Amendment of the United States Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Our Constitution was specifically written to safeguard against tyranny. The founders who drafted the Bill of Rights were especially concerned with protecting religious and political speech, as well as social commentary and satire, as the types of expression typically targeted by dictatorial regimes.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
– Amendment I, Constitution of the United States of America
Facts are a only a minor inconvenience, when the whole media establishment colludes to create a false reality for mass consumption. A free and independent press is an essential check against those in power who would use the media to skew the truth in support of their agenda. More and more people are recognizing that corporate media outlets have become mere spigots for propaganda and lies. Those that dare question the official narrative, whether it be the events of September 11, 2001 or the recent shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, are targets. The elites are aware that the more the press probes into these stories, the more the truth is revealed and the more their machinations of evil are exposed.
It is with increasing frequency that alternative voices are coming under attack, especially those that defend the traditional values of our country. In this political climate, anyone with basic common sense can be considered a racist or terrorist. They employ various means to discredit truth-seekers, including slander and financial pressure and have even gone as far as blaming acts of terror on the visible and outspoken voices of reason. It is this atmosphere that has prompted One American to issue this statement:
The author of One American does not condone violence of any kind. Our viewpoints shall not be construed to indicate support for violent rebellion, retribution or retaliation, assault, vandalism, acts of terrorism, targeted assassination, arson, sabotage, cyber attack or any other unlawful act.
We do support citizen’s lawful right under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution to keep and bear arms as a means of self defense. We support and encourage informed dissent, civil disobedience, peaceful protest and full engagement in the representative process to bring about change and restore the Republic to its former greatness.
With this in mind, One American invites you to read any of the posts here, conduct your own research, formulate your own opinions, comment, share, ask questions and take action.
